Losing only one match the entire day, Werner Electric cruised to the 2007-08 Prairie Athletic Club Team Racquetball title behind strong performances up and down the lineup.
Werner Electric whitewashed Madison Street Pub 18-0 in the final, in what was believed to be the first shutout in a championship match in Team Racquetball history.
Madison Street Pub, which was missing two players, advanced to the final after beating Grip it and Rip it in a semi-final.
Bob Doeden had a huge win in the second spot, while Bill Preboski and Nathan Artz added wins at Nos. 5 and 6. The match ended up tied at 10, but Madison Street Pub won the total points tiebreaker, 174-160.
In the other semi, Mark Schneider keyed Werner's win over Communications Plus with a win over previously undefeated Jim Bechen (16-0) at the No. 5 spot.
Jason Helmstadter took a game off Mike Martin (9-1 during the regular season), while Paul Krueger, Jim Wollack, Pat Thering and Nick Uebelacker joined Schneider in going 2-0 on the day.
Communications Plus got a lift from captain John Krebs in a 12-6 win over Exxon Mobil to start the day.
Other winners for Communications Plus included Dan Henderson, Martin and Bechen.
Dave Korenic and Rachel Olson won for Exxon Mobil.
There were 90 players and nine teams -- captained by volunteers -- in another successful Team Racquetball season.
Including the playoffs, several players put up outstanding records over the course of the season.
