The corn is coming.
From Thursday through Sunday, 100,000 people from throughout the region are expected to converge on Angell Park for the community's annual Sweet Corn Festival.
More than 70 tons of sweet corn will be served on Saturday and Sunday only, from noon to 6 p.m. The cost is $6 per tote box or $1.50 per ear.
The event kicks off Thursday with a 6:30 parade down Main Street.
On the entertainment stage this year will be jazz artist Jeremy Scott; juggler and musician Bob Kann; the Monona Academy of Dance; magician Lou Lepore; and Reach for the Stars Dance Company.
Among other activities, children will enjoy a circus train, fire engine slide, giraffe bounce and mini golf.
The upper grounds will feature a rock-climbing wall, craft fair, petting zoo, fresh corn sales, quad power jump and beer shelter.
Adult musical entertainment will be provided by The Invaders on Friday night and Bob Rocks on Saturday night.
Carnival rides, games, helicopter rides, food and vendor booths will be part of the weekend experience.
For $18, children can purchase wrist bands that entitle them to unlimited rides on the midway from 6-10 p.m. Thursday and Friday.
The weekend will conclude with midget auto racing, beginning at 7 p.m. Sunday.
Admission to Corn Fest is $1. Parking is $5 and includes admission.
