As of Sunday, 29 local teams had raised more than $24,000 to help find a cure for cancer.
The 242 area participants are part of Sun Prairie's Relay for Life team. From Friday evening through Saturday morning, they'll take turns walking around the high school track, commemorating those who are fighting cancer as well as those who have lost the battle.
To see the individuals and teams leading the fundraising effort, visit the Sun Prairie Relay for Life site.
On the site, you can also make a financial pledge to help find a cure. One popular way of doing so is to purchase a luminaria for $5. The candles in these sand-filled bags will be lit during the Relay event. Purchase a luminaria online.
All week, Sun Prairie Today will provide details about Relay for Life and the importance of finding a cure for cancer.
