Bruce Thompson inducted into Racquetball Hall of Fame

Bruce Thompson, founder and co-owner of the Prairie Athletic Club, was recently inducted into the Wisconsin State Racquetball Hall of Fame.

Thompson won numerous state titles during his 20-year playing career.

"I feel my selection was really a club award," Thompson said. "For 30 years, the PAC has held racquetball together in Wisconsin, hosting more than 200 tournaments during those years.

"We always had great employees who treated the club like they were owners," he said. "We always had great members who appreciated what a miracle it was that a club like the PAC could exist in such a small town.

"There were always plenty of great volunteers to help run the numerous events, and the city provided numerous sponsors so we could run each event successfully," said Thompson.

"It all added up to 30 years of tradition and fun," he said.

He added, "I wish the best of luck to my daughter Jenny and her husband Pete, and to my son Andy and his wife Chris, as they try to keep PAC alive for another 20 years plus."

A group of about 60 PAC members attended the induction ceremony, which was held during the Wisconsin State Singles Racquetball Tournament.

In a fitting tribute to Thompson, PAC players brought home six state titles and 22 medals overall.
