Calling the Chamber to action

In reading the opinion of Ms. Brewer [June 20 column], I agree with her view. In addition to what she said, I think that the Chamber has really just focused themselves (tunnel vision?) -- on two events, Groundhog's Day and Cornfest. Those are the only events that I seem to hear about in the news.

I have seen some really great info-mercials for other small cities on the local news channels, but never one for Sun Prairie. Why not? I believe that Sun Prairie has much more to offer other than the Cornfest and groundhog events.

I also must say that I do not belong to the Chamber; I never thought that they could do anything for my business and I still feel that way.

I don't know what the business people who belong to the Chamber feel. Maybe their thoughts are different than mine. I would like to hear from them on what the Chamber has done for them.

I have seen business in the downtown area come and go. There are many nice shops downtown -- shops that would be a hit any other place than our downtown. If this continues, I can see where the shops will go ... to the west side.

While I live on the west side, it would be nice to have them, but we need to keep the downtown going. It should be the place sought out by visitors and shoppers.

Why revitalize the downtown only to have shops move out? Come on Chamber, focus on what you can do for ALL of Sun Prairie, not just put all the advertising money into a couple events. You need to do an all out drive to get shoppers into
downtown before the Westside project is done and all the business migrates there!
